So many people look forward to the summer. Kids are done school, so for them an adventure begins. Sleeping in, sleep overs and late nights are part of their new day to day activities. Parents plan for holidays and baby sitters with flexible availability, aka grandparents. We switch into a very different gear as our well oiled routines become challenged by the abrupt end of school.

But it’s important, as the adult in the room, to remember what it was like when you were off for summer. The great anticipation, the calendar marking count down to the immanent day when the sweet sound of that final bell finally rang. As a kid, it was comparable to Christmas having just received the amazing gift of freedom. It was a feeling you can easily look back on with fondness.

Take the time to be a part of an adventure that will last in the memories of your kids. Map out some time out your busy schedule to join your kids and celebrate summer. Don’t forget the sunscreen and stay hydrated and most of all, appreciate the moments afforded you with your family this summer. Oh, and keep on playing my fellow musicians.
